Total Eren S.A. (“Total Eren”), Norwegian Renewables Group AS (“NRG”) and Urban Services Ltd. (“Urban Services”) are currently developing a 50 MWac solar PV power project in Bangladesh to sell electricity over long term power purchase agreements with the Bangladesh Power Development Board.
As part of the Project, a transmission line shall be constructed from the proprietary substation at the power plant to the nearest 132/33 kV main Grid substation located at Muktagacha Upazilla of Mymensingh District. The interconnection substation belongs to PGCB. Considering the requirement of the work, a transmission line route survey needs to be done.
The route survey needs to be performed to connect the project to the nearby Muktagacha Substation through a 132 kV overhead transmission line.
EQMS Consulting Limited has been awarded by Total Eren S.A. to survey a detailed study of best possible potentials routes considering some critical criteria. Also, preliminary tower schedule, terminal configuration, land category, risk and mitigation measures associated with all three routes, will be covered under this survey.
EQMS has initially considered three best possible transmission lines based on minimum cost and less impact on the environment, ecology and social-economic environment. The Right of Way (RoW) for the routes of probable transmission line has been considered as a 28-meter-wide corridor (Source: PGCB) following the practice of PGCB.
The interconnection line shall be a double circuit overhead line for the suitable three routes. The overhead lines will be installed on lattice towers supported by concrete embedded foundations with cast in situ piles and distance or normal ruling span between towers from around 300 meters. The transmission line will be developed and executed by a private developer and then transferred to PGCB.
